Good Reads.... What do you suggest?

I promised my friend Lauren... that I wouldn't only post crafty mom posts on here... so I try to make up for each post she may find annoying with a post she will find less annoying. :)
So anyways.
I don't think many people read this. but i am hoping a few do :)
So i decided I would share with you a few of my favorite books, and maybe you could share a few of your favorites... giving me ideas on something new to read.
So here I go.... to name just a few.

1. To Kill a Mocking bird - I had to read this in high school and I have been in love with it ever since.
2. Water for Elephants - I was honestly surprised at how much I liked this book. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.
3. Lucky - From the lady who wrote the Lovely Bones.
4. Memoirs of a Geisha - I had no idea what a Geisha was when I read this. I really thought I was going to read about samurai (spelling?) needless to say... she did not sword fight to my surprise.
5. 19 Minutes - This book was great... very emotional for me. It is about a school shooting. just a heads up. but again. great read.
6. Mr Maybe - great easy read... I don't usually like these types of books... but this one was good.
7. Marley and Me - I am a sucker for Dog books... There is nothing like having a dog. The most loyal person you will have in your life. I love my Nala.. and all of these remind me of her...
8. The Wedding - Wrote after the Notebook. If you liked the Notebook. you will love this one.
9. Mice and Men - classic... always love this one.

I am sure there are more that I love those are the ones that are coming to mind right now.
Has anyone read Eat, Prey, Love? The movie previews are making me want to read it.
Okay... now please suggest some good reads...

Christmas in July

A lot of places I have found online are posting all sorts of Christmas in July sales... and I just so happened to come across this this tutorial the other day while looking at a blog I just love :)
I think these ornaments are great with kids... because well these will turn out adorable no matter what... and i think they look like fun to to do.. and not too messy :)
I cant wait for Maddux to get big enough to do crafts... I loved baking and making Christmas ornaments with my mom as a kid. And these would have been fun to make.. and also something you could make for grandparents! Let me know if anyone tries these :)

I couldnt help myself...

Jerrys birthday is coming up next week, so I always try to find a silly gift and a serious gift. Well you know those women who have the stick family signs in the back of their mini vans... well I found a Star Wars version of that on etsy... and well I couldnt help it. I bought it immediately. It makes me laugh everytime I look at it.  He will love it... and it will probably always make me giggle :) Now the force will be with him as he drives....

On a side note one of my favorite things about my husband is his nerdiness. I really think that is one thing that made me fall completely in love with him. There is something endearing about a guy that just loves something so nerdy. :)

Party Hats

So i have been slowly planning Maddux's first birthday for months now. Which i realize makes me sound like a complete crazy person. but i am fine with that. I take a long time to get things ready... i am easily distracted. so i know if i want something done i need to start a long time in advance... that way everyhing wokrs out the way i want. So as mentioned previously I bought the printable party package from Dimple Prints. I printed off these hats and then added some ribbon for ties and these adorable curly ribbon and pieces of ribbon scraps for hat toppers :). I love the way they turned out. Nothing to fancy... i cant handle anything too fancy. but i think these turned out pefectly :)

If I could redo my wedding....

I have a thing for anything Rustic. I like Old Country decor, Boots, Ripped Jeans, tattered journals, Old wood frames...  I like things that look worn... I love it, when i see something that is rustic.. preferably girly rustic... for example give me a beaten up wood frame and throw a single pink ribbon on it. I will buy it.
But anyways... I am not sure exactly how I came across this fabulous rustic wedding shop on etsy.... but these make me want to redo my wedding outside... rustic decor. white Christmas lights in bare branches... So anyways. I thought I would share with you this fabulous etsy shop I found.. in case you also love rustic decor or know of anyone getting married that would love it.
two initials carved into a tree looking candle. Told you add a girly touch to beat up wood and i am in love.

Adorable right????

An introduction

I guess I should introduce myself.
My name is Fawn and I am new to this whole blog thing.
But I have been attempting to get my ideas together for my sons first birthday, so i have been reading a lot of mom blogs lately and am amazed with a few of them.. so i thought i would take a stab at this.
Most of the blogs i have found are creative moms that give tutorials on DIY projects. well I am not very creative. but if you are interested i will be attempting those tutorials.. i will show you my outcome. probably only the ones that pan out. and if i can do it. well i promise you i don't have a creative bone in my body. so if i can do it. so can you :)
So i will be entertaining this blog with my amazing thoughts and stories. and my attempts to learn how to be creative :) keyword... attempt.

Thanks for taking a look on here.

Official Sap

So being a mom has changed me in ways I could not even imagine. Crazy weird ways...

I have always been an awkward person. I don't handle serious situations very well. I tend to lean towards sarcasm if i feel people are being too emotional... I would rather lighten the mood to ease the situation for me. which sometimes tends to make the situation more awkward for whoever is talking to me. but hey at least it makes it better for me :)
But anyways. back on point. I cry at movies, TV shows, commercials, songs... but if you put me in a situation in real life you would expect me to tear up at. I usually end up laughing, and not because i am heartless and find sad moments funny. But because... I really think its my nervous trigger. Its weird I know.

But now after having Maddux its like this quality i have has been magnified. I never understood the movie Juno. Everyone loved it... and i thought it was okay but I didn't get it. Well Saturday night i was watching the movie alone... it came on TV. And i find myself sobbing hysterically... Before I just thought the movie was a little weird and in parts a little over dramatic. But this time I found myself understanding Jennifer Garners character so much.. it was apparently emotional for me. I still believe one of my favorite parts was the two colors of yellow on the nursery and her wanting the perfect color. and her butt head of a husband not thinking this was important.. and well this brought me back to the memories of Jerry thinking i was absurd for .. well for basically everything.

But anyways... I have always been a sap when it comes to movies. so that isn't a surprise. i think how much that comedic movie made me cry is the surprise.

In real life now... The first time i saw Maddux clap... i had to hold back tears. The first time I walked in his room and he was standing up in his crib was beyond emotional. Its amazing... the things i start to pay attention to. Everyone told me how different your emotions are once you have a baby... and i thought. Eh all these sappy girls are crazy. well its official I am a complete sap... thanks to this face....
