Playroom Art Station

Our playroom was missing an art station... And I wasn't sure where I wanted to add this in exactly...

But then my mom got all the kids art kits for Christmas. Which included a paper roller for the wall... that she picked up at Ikea. So we found a spot to mount this to the wall... so he can draw on.
I had his first artwork he ever brought home from daycare framed at our previous house... so I took that and hung it above the paper roll.
Then hung a basket of crayons on the wall (out of his reach of course... )
so this way... if he wants to color ... while I am in the room...  i can get the basket of crayons down for him.

When I am not in the room... hopefully he doesn't find a way to reach them and color my walls :)

So another small addition to our playroom was the art area.
Now we have a little art station all set up for him :)

Love the new masterpieces he has been creating on here :)

Pottery Barn Inspired Shelves

I love simple projects. That I can actually finished. Because sadly... I am easily distracted... and I tend to start a project before I am close to finishing the previous. Its a problem. I need to stop.

This is a quick post... because.. this is simple. Insanely simple. and Insanely cheap. Two of my favorite things when it comes to house projects.

I love these shelves on Pottery Barn

But the price tag on them... were insane for something so simple.

I took some boards... cut them to the size i wanted... stained them. Then attached them to the wall with L shaped brackets. Now I thought about spraying them with oil rubbed bronze to get them to look more like the photo. but then I got lazy... and decided... they looked good enough :) And I called it a day!

So simple :)

I made four to go around our TV in the playroom (I will share a larger photo later... )

Here our the ones I made...

So simple... and cheap. The perfect combination of words when it comes to a project : )

Things you might need to know about me... if we are going to be BFFs

I tend to be ... slightly dramatic. Just slightly.
My favorite sound in the world... is Maddux's giggle or his growl... really its a toss up :)
I could eat chips and salsa as a meal... several times a week.

I am insanely sarcastic... and insanely sensitive... not always a good mix.
I am stubborn.... and refuse to admit I am wrong. You can prove me wrong... I will ignore you.
I only wash my hair... 2-3 times a week... because dirty hair is easier to style.. don't worry... I shower regularly.
I loathe doing laundry. I avoid it.. until I run out of things to wear and am forced to do it.
I failed my driving test the first time.

I love cold leftover pizza.
I am awkward... and tend to respond to anything serious... the opposite of how I should respond.
I hate blow drying my hair... more than anything.
I have a ceramic cow for my creamer. I will "Moo" as i pour my creamer... then giggle to myself. because i find it hilarious.

I love to dance.... Sunday mornings are dedicated to cleaning, loud music, and bad dancing.

I tend to trip a lot. sometimes over my own feet... sometimes over nothing. It happens. Frequently.

I have an obsession with comic book movies

I have a similar obsession with comic book clothing.

I have an irrational fear of June Bugs and Grasshoppers.

I am easily amused... I have the maturity level of a 9 year old most days.

I have a very strong disliking towards Kevin Bacon - the first movie I saw him in was Sleepers.. and I just cant get past it.

I always have and Always will love Britney.

I LOVE going to the Zoo...
I dont know how to iron.
My favorite smell .. is old musty basements. Gross. I know. My mom thinks its because growing up my grandparents had an old house.. .when you first walked in the side door.. that smell hit you in the face.. so maybe it has sentimental value. or maybe im just that weird.
I love eating spoonfuls of peanut butter
Red vines and bottled Coca-Cola make me think of summer

I love playing cards... or board games

I am a Momma's girl.

My favorite drink is Malibu and Diet.

I still do not feel like a grown up. I'm not sure I ever truly will

I hate wearing shoes.

I never paint my nails and my toe polish is ALWAYS chipped. But it doesn't bother me.

I hate movie theater popcorn.

My son makes me a hypocrite. Man... before having a kid... I thought I knew it all :)
My family and friends mean everything to me.

Dining Room

Our dining room is a gigantic work in progress. This room needs so much work it is crazy. I do have big plans though... but sadly big plans usually require big money so this room will take some time for it to look exactly how I want.

I fell in love with this table from Pottery Barn

But the table was about 800 bucks... and I don't really have that kind of money for a table...

So my mom and step dad were kind enough to surprise me at Christmas... and they build a version of this table! :) Which I love. It looks awesome!

I took a trip to Ikea this weekend and picked up some shelves... so i could attach some wine glass holders and create a bar-ish area in our dining room. I picked out bright green... i figure I always stick to white... and wanted to try something new. I am not 100% sold on them yet... but we will see if they grow on me.

I still need to fill up the bottom of the table... and probably do some rearranging on the shelves and what not.... but as of today... here is how it looks...
I still need to get the framed maps on the wall... and pick up a few things for the shelves... but who knows how long it will take me to find stuff I like :)

Ps. the plans for this table came from Ana-White. The girl is amazing :)

Didn't they do a great job on the table? I love it.

I'm currently stalking Pottery Barn for the next replica piece of furniture they can build me ;)
