Reupholster = time consumingly hard... frustrating... but oh so Pretty!

My mother in law was nice enough to give me 2 chairs from her basement.... that were hmmm... dated and green. very green. But I thought I could do something with them.
At first I read a post online about someone who painted a chair instead of reupholstering it... well that did not work for me. I should have taken a photo at the complete failure it was.... but instead... in the middle of painting it I got upset about the pure disaster in front of me and ripped it all off... so in the middle of my frustration the last thing i was thinking about was taking a photo :)

So I went to the fabric store found some I loved... and decided to give this a try.

I googled tutorials on line... and pretty much it was just pull and staple... pull and staple. so that's what I did. I was nervous though... so I had my mom help me with the first one. and my step dad helped us too... so we got one chair completely stapled.... and then it sat there for a few days then I cut off the access fabric... then bought some cording and glued that on over the staples...

and well here is my transformation... its a biggie...

And now some details... because I love her... Love her! Can't wait to finish up the 2nd one!

Have you Reupholstered Anything?

  9. I love this chair makeover! Being able to reupholster furniture yourself is the best thing on this earth! I've upholstered one chair so far and about to get started on another one that is similar to your chair. Wish me luck! I love the fabric too.

Here's my chair makeover by the way

  12. I'm not a fan of the high backed square look of chairs like this however .... you did a BRILLIANT job with it! Perfect fabric choice and complementing paint color.
