1 year later....

We moved into our house exactly a year ago.

I thought it would be fun to remind myself of where it started and see where we are 365 days later :)

We are learning a lot along the way. We have had more failures than successes. But its a work in progress. And we love creating our home to fit Us.
It has been a lot of work... a lot of stress... but is worth it.

Front of our house when we moved in

We haven't done as much to the outside as I would like. But we did a few things. We got rid of the random bushes planted... Everywhere. Created a retaining wall and filled the area with hydrangeas. Painted our front door blue and built a couple of planter boxes to spruce up our front porch.
This next year we are planning on spray painting our light fixtures oil rubbed bronze. Put in a patio off the basement sliding doors. Expand our deck and plant a garden. We will see what happens.... :)

But here it is Today....

Here is our basement from before we moved in.

Our basement is currently a huge work in progress. We are in the process of finishing it. we have framed out the walls, added electric, and hung somedrywall....

So here it is today.... (sorry for the terrible photo... only pic I have taken so far)

Entry way when we moved in...

We painted the stair wall with chalkboard paint, replaced the tile with laminate hardwood flooring...

Someday we want to paint our banister and get rid of the carpet. someday.

And today...

Dining Room before...

Dining room now... (we have not done hardly anything to this room.... We are currently working on it though. So i am hoping to have some updates very soon... )

Upstairs Hallway area before...

We decided to stripe the entire upstairs hallway. This was one of our first projects we did to the house... and I love the way it turned out. It was a lot of work... .but definitely worth it. We created a gallery wall of wedding photos, engagement photos, and memories of us as a couple. This hallway is still one of my favorite areas of our house.

And today...

Our playroom before... with lovely blue feathered wall treatment...

We painted the walls, added a gallery collection of Maddux and Nala, Family hand prints (Mothers Day gift from the hubs, so sweet!), Chalkboard coffee table, Patterned embroidery hoops, Fabric backed bookcase, Art Station for Maddux to color, and the easiest shelves ... ever.

And here is the playroom today...

Maddux's Bathroom Before...
We did a quick little makeover to this bathroom that was super easy and cheap. we added board and batten to the back wall with some wall hooks for towels, painted the bathroom green, and added some quick DIY art to put on the ledge. easy peasy. and a huge impact!
And Maddux's Bathroom Currently....

Maddux's bedroom before...

This was the first room we painted when we moved in. I still love this color for his walls. its bright and cheery and fun :) Most of the Star Wars stuff came from my husband. Stuff he collected as a kid. We found that amazing poster print on EBay... I love it. We tried to create a room he would love without spending too much money so that when the day comes he wants to change it... it doesn't make me want to cry :)
And here is his room today....

Spare Bedroom Then...
(and Now) We have not done a thing to this room. not a thing

Here was the landing at the top of the stairs ...

We striped all the walls of the hallway. including the nook at the top of the stairs. I was always unsure of what to do with this nook.... and then on pinterest I found a lot of sources where people created offices in small spaces... so I started thinking... why not?  So we built the desk.... and it fit perfectly in front of the window... now we are using this space ... and it is no longer wasted space!
Which now has become our mini office...

Master Bedroom Before

Master Bedroom Currently (all we have done is put in furniture and painted the walls... some day we will start on this.. and really get our butts in gear)

Master Bath Before (And After)
Again... we have not done a thing in here

Kitchen Before....

The kitchen has been quite the project.. .and we still have so much to do. We put in laminate wood flooring, added moulding to the cabinets, opened up a few cabinets, added board and batten to the breakfast bar, replaced the light fixtures, painted the kitchen cabinets, bought new appliances...

This year we plan on adding hardware to the cabinets, painting the window white and adding in a roman shade, creating chunkier shelves in those open cabinets, finding a rug to fill in that space under the sink, adding in cedar back splash, painting all the trim white, taking out the sliding doors putting in french doors, adding a gallery wall next to the breakfast area... and someday replacing those counter tops with something darker...

Living Room when we moved in...

We pulled up that nasty carpet as soon as we could afford it and put in laminate wood flooring. Painted our fireplace white, replaced that boob light, painted the walls, found an entertainment center to fill that nook. bought a sectional... and adding decorations here and there whenever we founds something we liked....

we still need to paint our windows.... find a large enough rug.... decide on a coffee table or Ottoman... and more toy storage for Maddux.

And here is our living room today...

Main level bathroom before

We got rid of that bright yellow and painted the room a light blue, painted the vanity white, added hardware, updated the light fixture, added in some DIY Sea Fan Art, framed out our mirror... and all of those little changed added up into a huge room change :)

We still need to paint our trim white... and maybe add in some more artwork on the wall that the toilet is facing.

And today..

I do not have a before photo of our laundry room... But here it is today..

And some Closet Re-vamping

So there it is... 365 days of work on our end.
A lot of mistakes
A few successes

A lot more work to do.....

Currently we are concentrating on a few more updates the kitchen, the dining room, and finishing the basement. We will see where this next year takes us :)
