Star Wars Birthday Party

This year we threw Maddux a Star Wars birthday party.

As luck would have it... this was the beginning of my throat infection that landed me in the hospital that next day... and all sorts of medical problems... and on top of that, my camera broke. So unfortunately I do not have any photos off my camera... I had to make due with the iPhone. So bear with me on the quality of photos.

We hosted the party at home for our young jedi. We had jedi robes made for the boys, princess leia robe and headbands with the princess leia buns... and each child received their own pool noodle light saber. So with not feeling well.. and no camera. Well the amount of photos is disappointing.

We were lucky enough to be contacted by The LA Shop and received a photo back drop from their company... to do a product review. Since we try to do a photo booth every year to capture the kids who come to the parties for Maddux's scrapbook. this was a great deal for us. We received the product rather fast... and it was easy to put together. I love that the back drop is easy to take down and comes with a carrying case if we ever need to take it with us for a party. We attached some star fabric to the back drop for the kids to stand in front of in their Star Wars gear for us to take photos of.

This product held up quite well for a four year olds birthday party.
It was sturdy and durable. We were very pleased with the quality of product we received. Here are some photos of how we set up the stand at the party and used it for our back drops for our photos.

Now that I have my camera back and I am enrolling in photography classes next month. I am hoping I can play round with the backdrop and come up with some cute Valentine Photo ideas. I will definitely order from The LA Shop in the future after I take some photography classes and want to purchase more photography props. And of course it always comes in handy at birthday parties. :)

If you want to check them out their website it HERE
Not only do they carry photography equipment but they also have Pet Supplies, Sports Equipment, Home Equipment and more.

We were lucky enough to get a few members of the 501st legion to show up for Maddux's birthday party this year :)

All in all he had a great day!

Birthday Carnival Frame

I have this ugly frame in our bedroom. That I have never really liked... so I decided to redo it.

Original Frame...

and after i spray painted it red and added the penant flags to match his party theme... it ended up looking like this. Hopefully i can stencil some letters on that say My First Birthday... or something ..

crayon molds

I made coloring books for Maddux's birthdy party... so i thought i would attempt some crayon molds. I found some on etsy and figured I could probably just make them myself. Well these were honestly a huge pain in the butt to make. I think next time I will just buy them and save myself the frustration. They did turn out okay though. Here's a few pics!!!

Ribbon Wands!

Now I found these online for weddings...  But i have a few girly nieces that would love these. So I decided I would make these as Party Favors for Maddux's Party. I went and bought one thing of doll rods and took all of the random ribbon i have and hot glued them onto the rod. these arent the most amazing things ever but they were cheap and easy... and they are pretty cute. and my nieces will love twirling these ribbons around. Here is one that I made :)

Obviously on a mustache kick

So i came across this circus wedding that did a photo booth... and they included mustache on a stick props... and i loved loved loved this. and i thought this would be such a great way to capture everyone who will come to Maddys first birthday :) So since I am doing things here and there for this party since its smack dab in the middle of the holiday season... and i might as well get this head start.. i downloaded a mustache template on google and traced these onto cardstock... hot glued them on to doll rods... hopefully people have fun using these :) for the photo booth. i found red and white striped carnival material on clearance at Ikea so i am hoping i can get that tacked up on to the wall. Hopefully i can get everyone in there to get their picture so i can include this photo in their thank you notes :)

Those are just a few... I dont know if Jerry realized these would be posted on my blog for anyone to see :) haha!!!

Step Right Up and Make a Ticket Bowl!!!!

If you haven't read before... I am planning a Circus/Carnival Themed Party for Maddux's first birthday. I know it seems crazy that I am working on this already.

But it has been a lot of fun planning, and just gathering all sorts of supplies.

I found this tutorial on how to make bowls out of rolls of tickets and figured this would be absolutely perfect for me to put stuff in.

To be honest i havent figured out what I am putting in them. But it will all come together. Anyways. These turned out great!!!! Here are some photos of the

red bowl. I have made a couple with Blue tickets also. Below I will attach the tutorial I came across on another blog.

Party Hats

So i have been slowly planning Maddux's first birthday for months now. Which i realize makes me sound like a complete crazy person. but i am fine with that. I take a long time to get things ready... i am easily distracted. so i know if i want something done i need to start a long time in advance... that way everyhing wokrs out the way i want. So as mentioned previously I bought the printable party package from Dimple Prints. I printed off these hats and then added some ribbon for ties and these adorable curly ribbon and pieces of ribbon scraps for hat toppers :). I love the way they turned out. Nothing to fancy... i cant handle anything too fancy. but i think these turned out pefectly :)
