Quick DIY canvas & a WIP

So the master bedroom is neglected. I have mentioned that several times... just seems to be the room that I don't pay all that much attention to. Once in a while I will do something like the window seat.

Or add in a shoe closet

But overall... nothing i start and complete as a room in full

A few months ago I started a photo gallery ... yep a few months.
It is still not finished. Instead.. when we took down the photo ledges in the dining room most of those pictures just got thrown on the shelves in here.... and ended up looking like this.

Not exactly what I had imagined. So I need to work in this clean it up. I got the photo cds from Mel... so I can get started on this. I have expressed my love for engineer prints. So I need to get to Staples sometime soon and have some extra large photos printed. I love massive black and white photos. and these are easy on my checking account. I promise... if you are thinking about doing it, you will not be disappointed. The nice thing is you can use those cheap poster frames for these engineer prints and they still look awesome. Try it.

So My idea of what this corner of the room will look like is more like this.

So I am thinking I want a row of photos on the floor also. I want to fill this wall with happy memories and moments I never want to forget. Its going to look awesome. I just need to sort out if I want same frames.. different frames. All black and white photos or a mixture of the both.
I am thinking a more uniformed look for this wall will be better... but I am not 100% sure yet.

Meanwhile. I had a blank canvas sitting around and one day I got out a sharpie and decided to re-creat a print I saw floating around on Pinterest.  And even though it is not perfect it works out quite well. It was free... and took all of 5 minutes.

So once I get my booty over to Staples and get some engineer prints it will change the whole look of this gallery wall.

What about you? Have you taken a marker to a canvas?

Getting my Geek on....

You all know I am a geek.
And probably have witnessed my Star Wars footed pajamas photo on facebook.. That I literally live in. Every single night.

So when I saw these on Etsy...

I of course again. Decided I could probably do this on my own.

So I searched online. Found some Star Wars Silhouettes Here

and printed them off.
Traced them onto black card stock..
Framed these prints.
And this project was done

and this is my favorite thing in my bedroom right now.

This weekend I plan on finding some hardware I can add to the shelves that will say.
I love you.
I know.

And then adding these to the gallery shelves in the bedroom. Which I haven't shared with you yet because I am still filling these shelves up with everything that makes me happy :)

And Han and Leia ... they make us happy.

Sofa Table Makeover :)

I did not take a photo beforehand... because of course i didn't think about it.
But anyways. this table was given to me by Rod and my mom... and its a really nice table. Its was Oak... solid wood :)
It did have a few marks on the top... and the color of wood wasn't really matching our living room.
So after reading all of these blogs... and talking to my mom... we decided we would go ahead and give it a try and well
i love the way it turned out.... distressed and weathered... I love it :)

Here is what it looked like after sanding and painting it cream... at this point we were now taking the sandpaper to distress it up some...

Then we added on the smoked Glaze... for the final touches... and it looks so good :)

Its hard to get a shot of it from far away... so I decided to put in some shots close up of the detail...  Hopefully i can get some good shots in when i have some natural light.. these were done at night so the flash kept messing with the color.. the table is cream colored but in some of these it looks white... ill mess with it more this weekend :)

Grandparents Gifts

This past weekend was Grandparents Day...

So I have seen this idea used with wood blocks... but I didn't have any wood blocks... so I thought I would make due and see what I come up with.

I took a small canvas... painted them... then modge podged some fall paper onto them... added a ribbon.... hot glued on a clip to hold the photo.. and added a few embellishments here and there.
I thought these would be good since they can be put out as decoration in the fall... and since its made with a clip they can update the photo at any time :)

I made a few into magnets also. I figured my dad would prefer a magnet... and a few others might also :)

Here are a few photos. I hope they enjoy them!

Some of the magnets...

Here's a picture without the photo... using the clip they can easily update it :)

More vintage Books

Like I said... i love vintage books. I just think the pictures are adorable.
My friend Lauren and I found this book and decided to make a collage....

i think i need to do something else to it... it looks to collage-ish to me... maybe i should frame it?

i dont know what i want to do to it exactly. I think its cute... but i needs something else.... I just cant figure out what...
any ideas???

Vintage Books :)

I love vintage books. I am not sure what I am going to do with this exactly. Right now I have it placed on top of our bookshelf with all of our books we have bought for Maddux. I am thinking when we get started on his play room I am going to try to use more of a vintage theme... Jerry would like to do Star Wars. but i think that since his "movie/game room" is already star wars... and is the next room over... i think i should get to have a say on his play room. Well lets face it... if i want it vintage... i will win. he can try and fight it all he wants... but at the end of the day... we will see who gets their way :)

I have a thing for buntings... a huge thing for them right now. so i came across this on another blog... i have been looking all morning trying to find it... and i cannot find it. so if anyone knows. please let me know.. and i will give credit who i stole this project from. Well anyways... she did it. and i fell in love with it. so i had to make one also... Hers was a little better... but i think mine turned out quite well :)

Birthday Carnival Frame

I have this ugly frame in our bedroom. That I have never really liked... so I decided to redo it.

Original Frame...

and after i spray painted it red and added the penant flags to match his party theme... it ended up looking like this. Hopefully i can stencil some letters on that say My First Birthday... or something ..

crayon molds

I made coloring books for Maddux's birthdy party... so i thought i would attempt some crayon molds. I found some on etsy and figured I could probably just make them myself. Well these were honestly a huge pain in the butt to make. I think next time I will just buy them and save myself the frustration. They did turn out okay though. Here's a few pics!!!

Grandmas love bragging ;)

So I went to Target the other day and was playing around in their scrapbook aisle. when i found two chipboard mini books. which i thought would be perfect... well first off they were only 99 cents.. and secondly they would fit perfectly in grandma's purses :)
I am horrible at printing off pictures. i am an expert in posting them online. but printing them off for people ... i dont do.  So i figured this would be a great addition to Christmas gifts for them.  These are the two i have made. i just covered them with some scrapbook papers... i am going to fill them with some of my favorite pictures of Maddux. Hopefully they love them :)

Fall is complete Happiness

I am so excited for summer to end and Fall to be here. I found this fun paper and decided i wanted a hanging frame. I have tons of photos of Maddux... I should show them off.
and even though he isnt smiling.. and people may wonder why I love this photo so much.. well because this is a face he makes quite often. If you take away something he cant have... if he is tired... i get this face. and even though its such a sad face... it melts my heart whenever i see it. those cheeks are just adorable...

I made this frame just using scrapbook paper, modge podge, and a dollar frame from Michaels.
I made a paper flower out of extra paper scraps.
I really like the way it turned out :)

the pictures dont really show the paper... but it just lists a lot of my favorite thanksgiving foods...
pumpkin pie, cranberries, apple crisp, turkey... etc. yummm now i am hungry...

Count your blessings

Fall is absolutely my favorite season. I love everything about it. I am never ever sad to see summer go... Fall starts the beginning of the holiday seasons, leaves changing colors, cute boots, scarves, Hoodies :), Hot chocolate, Football, Flannel... I can go on and on and on.
I just absolutely love everything about it :)

So last night I decided to play with stuff I had laying around... I collect scrapbooking supplies... pretending that one day I will start a scrapbook. I have been saying this for about 4 years now. It has not happened  yet... I am really bad at printing out my photos. Its horrible. so i just throw all the papers, stickers, embellishments, etc into a huge bag in my closet and there it sits. Its a complete waste of money and I wish I would start scrapbooking... but now they have these photo books you can create and they do it for you... sooo it just keeps getting put off. one day... hopefully .. i will start.

But anyways...

So i decided to play around with the things i have... and a cheap 99 cent frame I have...
It probably could have turned out better... if i would have put some thought into it and gone to the store. but for what i have in my bag of crap.... it turned out pretty cute... i think at least :)

For my first time attempting one of these... i am pretty happy with the result :)

A few things I have been working on for Maddux's party :)

I have a few more things I have done for it... but they are still sitting on my camera. Hopefully I can get them uploaded tomorrow ..

Ribbon Wands!

Now I found these online for weddings...  But i have a few girly nieces that would love these. So I decided I would make these as Party Favors for Maddux's Party. I went and bought one thing of doll rods and took all of the random ribbon i have and hot glued them onto the rod. these arent the most amazing things ever but they were cheap and easy... and they are pretty cute. and my nieces will love twirling these ribbons around. Here is one that I made :)

Obviously on a mustache kick

So i came across this circus wedding that did a photo booth... and they included mustache on a stick props... and i loved loved loved this. and i thought this would be such a great way to capture everyone who will come to Maddys first birthday :) So since I am doing things here and there for this party since its smack dab in the middle of the holiday season... and i might as well get this head start.. i downloaded a mustache template on google and traced these onto cardstock... hot glued them on to doll rods... hopefully people have fun using these :) for the photo booth. i found red and white striped carnival material on clearance at Ikea so i am hoping i can get that tacked up on to the wall. Hopefully i can get everyone in there to get their picture so i can include this photo in their thank you notes :)

Those are just a few... I dont know if Jerry realized these would be posted on my blog for anyone to see :) haha!!!
